Winter holidays on the French Riviera

In mid-February (usually from the 10th to the 23rd) the biggest event on the French Riviera takes place: The Nice Carnival. Listed as a "Riviera winter resort town" on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Nice is a carnival capital of the world. It holds one of the three largest carnivals worldwide. Facing the sea, along La Promenade des Anglais, the 3-star Hotel Le Royal is an ideal setting to enjoy these festivities. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the carnival for a day, you can head out of Nice to the principality of Monaco, or across the border into Italy.

The Fête du Citron® in Menton takes place on similar dates to those of the Nice Carnival, from 10 to 23 February. This event attracts more than

 200,000 visitors each year, who come to marvel at the parades of floats featuring the legendary lemon, the exhibition of citrus fruit designs in the Jardin Biovès and the light illuminations as night falls...
